ASPE Philadelphia is excited to bring a chapter meeting to the Lehigh Valley this October, hosted at Barry Isett & Associates in Allentown.

📣 Calling all engineers and designers: Join us for an evening of networking, professional development, and community.

🌐 Presentation: “Evaluating the Key Bridge Disaster: Ethics in Design”
🍻 Social Hour: 5:00 PM
🎤 Presentation: 6:00 PM

Join us for a timely and thought-provoking presentation led by Laura Loziuk, PE (ASPE Philadelphia Chapter President) and Kevin Campbell, PE (CEO of Barry Isett & Associates).

Together, they will explore the tragic Francis Scott Key Bridge Disaster in Baltimore through the lens of engineering ethics. The program will cover:

·       An overview of the NSPE Board of Ethical Review and the Engineer’s Code of Ethics

·       The technical failure and progressive collapse of the bridge

·       Ethical challenges engineers face when balancing public safety, cost, politics, and disclosure

·       Lessons learned and the importance of transparency in our profession

This interactive discussion will incorporate real NSPE Board of Ethical Review cases and group dialogue, offering attendees valuable insight into the role of ethics in engineering decision-making.

We’ll also feature a tabletop from Cullen Company—don’t forget your business cards to enter the tabletop giveaway if you’re an ASPE Member who is currently a designer or engineer!

This marks our first-ever meeting at an engineering firm, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to highlight local talent and the supporters of ASPE. A huge thank-you to Barry Isett & Associates for welcoming us!
