Meeting Topic

Fire Protection Engineering and Firefighting Operations: Designing for Success and Safety

Fire protection engineers and firefighters often face the same challenges—but from very different perspectives. When those viewpoints connect, designs become smarter and firefighting becomes more effective. This presentation will explore how a strong understanding of fireground operations helps engineers design systems that not only meet code requirements, but actively support firefighter safety and effectiveness.

Speaker Spotlight

E.J. Henninger is a senior designer with more than 25 years of experience in fire protection, plumbing, and process systems. In addition to his design expertise, E.J. serves as a firefighter with a rural volunteer fire department. He also provides specialized training for firefighters, offering an engineering-based understanding of building and fire protection systems. His unique background bridges the gap between system design and real-world emergency response, making this a practical and engaging presentation.
