Join us on Thursday, May 14th for the ASPE Philadelphia Chapter’s April meeting at Ballinger. We are excited to gather in a great setting for an evening of networking, learning, and connection with our chapter members.  This meeting will also have a chapter board election before the start of the technical session.

Chapter Board Election Information:

We will be holding our Chapter Board Elections during our upcoming monthly chapter meeting on Monday, May 14. All members in good standing are encouraged to attend and participate in the election process.

For the 2026–2027 term, the following Chapter Board positions are open:

  • Treasurer: Responsible for the chapter’s financial stewardship, including maintaining accurate financial records, managing bank accounts, preparing financial reports, overseeing the annual budget, and ensuring compliance with ASPE financial policies. Current chapter member in the role is Matt Martin.
  • Vice President, Technical: Oversees the chapter’s technical education and professional development programs. This includes planning monthly technical sessions, securing qualified speakers, ensuring CEU compliance, and supporting members’ ongoing technical growth. Current chapter member in the role is Scott Decker.
  • Vice President, Legislative: Serves as the chapter’s resource on codes, standards, and regulatory developments. Responsibilities include monitoring legislative and code updates, communicating changes to the membership, coordinating with the Society’s legislative committee, and keeping the chapter informed on issues affecting plumbing engineering practice.  Current chapter member in the role is Owen Murphy.

If you are interested in running for any of these positions, or would like to nominate a fellow member, please reach out prior to the meeting or be prepared to express your interest during the election portion of the agenda. I have also attached the ASPE P and O manual to this email for you to learn more about the roles.  Chapter 6 divers into the officer’s duties.

Chapter Meeting Information:

Topic: Common Construction Issues: What We See, Why They Happen, and How to Fix Them

For our May program, engineers and designers from Ballinger will lead an engaging, field‑focused session on the construction challenges we most frequently encounter on job sites. The team has assembled a list of sixteen common issues they routinely identify and review with contractors before work begins.

During the meeting, Ballinger's presenters will walk through several of these issues, supported by photos or illustrations, showing what the incorrect installation looks like and how it should be properly executed.

This visual, practice‑oriented discussion is designed to spark conversation, reinforce best practices, and help all attendees improve coordination and construction outcomes across their projects.  Nothing is better than having our chapters engineers and designers discuss real world applications in the field.  Join us for a great night!
